That’s why we’ve put together a guide to the main festivals and events in Murcia in 2026 so you can plan your trips with time and a clear head. And here’s a tip: take the train to Murcia and you’ll land in the centre, no traffic jams, no parking dramas.

Calendar of events and festivals in Murcia

Murcia changes colour with the seasons: as the cold starts to fade, Semana Santa and Fiestas de Primavera give you goosebumps; summer brings music, folklore and open-air nights, while September is Feria territory, with fairground rides and gastronomic gardens (huertos).

Best of all, everything’s within easy reach: get off at Murcia del Carmen station and you’re a short stroll from the Cathedral, the Trapería and the hubs of most routes and monuments. A perfect way to arrive in Murcia in style.

Tips for attending events in Murcia

Always check official dates, as many calendars can vary year to year, and book accommodation in advance—hotels sell out fast on the biggest dates. It’s also wise to buy tickets early and plan transport: arriving in Murcia by train drops you in the centre and saves you driving laps.

The centre is easy to explore on foot, though if you’re heading to venues like La Fica, it’s worth taking a bus, taxi or VTC.  And of course, dress for the plan: for processions, comfy shoes and a light layer; for festivals, cap, sunscreen and a hunger to dance.

Main festivals and events

Maratón de Murcia 2026 Dates: Sunday 1 February 2026.

Runners have a fixed date in their calendar with Maratón de Murcia, held in three distances: marathon, half marathon and 10k. In 2025, there were 10,000 runners across all distances, and there’s usually live music along the course. The atmosphere is fantastic! If you’re running, secure your race bib early.

Semana Santa en Murcia

  • Dates: 29 March to 5 April 2026 (Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday).

Semana Santa in Murcia has been awarded International Tourist Interest status. These are days when the city fills with cofradías (brotherhoods), nazarenos (penitents), drums and art in the streets.

For lovers of tradition, the must-see processions are Los Coloraos (Holy Wednesday), del Silencio (Maundy Thursday), Los Salzillos (Good Friday) and, finally, El Paseo de la Burrica y el Demonio on Easter Sunday. Check the routes to find the best spots, arrive with time to avoid crowds, and follow guidance from the Local Police and volunteers.

Fiestas de Primavera y Entierro de la Sardina

  • Dates: 6 to 12 April 2026.

Fiestas de Primavera kicks off just as Semana Santa ends. With this centuries-old tradition, Murcia dresses to the nines with a host of street activities spanning gastronomy, culture and parades. Two must-sees: Bando de la Huerta and Entierro de la Sardina—the big finale with a spectacular night-time parade. As the dates approach, check the programme to plan your trip in good time—there’s a lot to do, so it’s best to go in with a clear plan.

Feria de Septiembre

  • Dates: early September (2026 dates TBC).

Feria de Septiembre in Murcia brings two weeks of activities with big fairground rides, casetas, tastings and crafts. And of course, the romería de la Virgen de la Fuensanta as the closing of the festivities.

It’s held across different parts of the city. At Recinto Ferial de la Fica you’ll find rides and casetas, while at Huertos del Malecón you can sample top local gastronomy—tapas, rice dishes and Murcian produce that will make you want to come back. Plus, there are dozens of cultural activities, such as concerts and screenings at various points in the city. As the time draws near, check the full programme on official channels.

Festivales de música

Murcia is music too, and festival-goers know it—here are some big dates to savour:

  • Warm Up Festival. Takes place on 1 and 2 May 2026 at Recinto Ferial La Fica. No bands confirmed yet, but its line-ups blend rock, pop and indie and usually feature at least one international act.
  • Animal Sound. 2026 dates not yet announced, but it usually happens in early May and brings together urban and electronic artists.
  • Lemon Pop. Early September (2026 dates TBC), Murcia fills with live music, with dozens of free gigs (plus a few paid ones). A brilliant plan to pair with Feria de Septiembre.
  • B-Side Festival. This festival showcases the best of national indie and takes place in Molina de Segura. It usually coincides with Feria de Septiembre, so it’s a great combo if you’re visiting then. There are shuttle buses from Murcia city centre.

If these festivals appeal, we recommend following their official channels to stay on top of final dates, artist confirmations and pre-sales. That way you avoid last-minute surprises—nobody likes those.

Festival Internacional de Folklore en el Mediterráneo

  • Dates: 11 to 17 July 2026.

All week long, the city hosts this folklore festival, one of the oldest in Spain. Plaza del Cardenal Belluga becomes the epicentre of this special event, with traditional music and dance from groups around the world taking over Murcia for these days.
