ABOUT OUIGO
We are OUIGO ESPAÑA SAU, the new high-speed train operator that arrives in Spain with the aim of popularising high speed and making this means of transport affordable to everybody.
Where do we come from?
Our origins date back to 1937, when the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fers Français was created. Its experience, high technology and know-how have made it one of the most important railway companies in the world. SNCF was the pioneer of high speed in Europe with the TGV in 1981.
Although the SNCF has been serving the French and the rest of Europe for over 80 years, we were not established until 2013. To be exact, on Tuesday 2nd of April, a very special date for us. As of that date we started to offer accessible and quality services to everyone.
We were born and grew up in France, where we improved, evolved and innovated. Now we want to share everything we have learned, this time in Spain. We have been operating a low fare model in France for several years with low prices and quality services, on the basis of the enormous knowledge we have gained from the more than 50 million passengers who have chosen us for their journeys.
Where are we going?
The liberalisation of the Spanish railway sector is a long process, but that will not influence our objectives: to bring high speed at affordable prices to as many Spanish cities as possible.
For the time being, we are operating in the cities of Barcelona, Madrid , Valencia , Tarragona , Zaragoza , Albacete , Alicante , Cuenca , Murcia , Elche , Valladolid and Segovia to continue expanding our destinations until we reach Alicante, Cordoba, Seville and Malaga, thus adapting to the needs and requirements of each passenger.
How and when?
In Spring 2021, we began to write our history in Spain. The first destinations were Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Tarragona, we have recently expanded to Valencia, Alicante and Albacete but new cities will also be added. Our double height Alstom Euroduplex trains run on Spanish tracks, where quality, comfort, simplicity and fun are guaranteed. Our fleet consist of 14 trains with 509 seats each. The interior and design of the cars are completely new with sockets in each seat and with other important differences for passengers that we prefer to keep as surprises for when the time comes.
One of the coaches that make up our trains is dedicated exclusively to our OUIBAR, the perfect place to eat, drink and make the journey even shorter.
We want our trains to facilitate the transport and mobility of our passengers, regardless of whether they have legs or paws. Travelling at high speed is everyone's right. That is why, in addition to offering high quality services at a low price, we cannot leave behind our beloved pets: they are more than welcome!
What is the OUIGO universe like?
The OUIGO universe can be translated into fun and positivism. We are a brand that loves to welcome everyone, no matter if it is your first time on a train or if you have been riding tracks all your life.
