With our "Happy Returns" campaign, OUIGO offered sessions with psychologists on board to help manage Christmas emotions. Discover the experience.
Going home for Christmas is a classic... but let’s be honest: sometimes it comes loaded with mixed feelings, stress and those "how is everything going to go?" nerves. Because the holidays aren’t just about lights and festive treats; they are also about reunions, overdue conversations and, occasionally, situations that stir us up inside.

That’s why, at OUIGO, we decided that your journey home deserved some care too. On 17, 18, 22 and 23 December, we launched Felices Vueltas (Happy Returns): an initiative where professional psychologists travelled with us to offer on-board talks, helping our passengers manage their emotions before reaching their destination.
Because at OUIGO we don’t just get you there fast: we also want you to arrive well. 💖
Psychology on board: talks at 300 km/h
The mechanics were simple, but practical. In Coach 1 (Earth) of selected trains on direct routes to Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Malaga, we set up a quiet and confidential space where travellers could book a private chat with a psychologist.
What happened during the talks?
Practical tips for facing the return home, tools to manage Christmas stress, assertive communication techniques or simply a safe space to let out what you were holding inside. Everything adapted to each person, without judgement, with professionalism and a lot of respect.
And the best part: what happens on the train, stays on the train. Confidentiality was key in every session, because we know that talking about what we feel requires trust.
Great professionals to accompany you
For an initiative like this, we could only count on the best. The psychologists who made Felices Vueltas possible were:
- Alicia González (@aliciagonzalezpsicologia): family therapist and creator of mental health content.
- Patricia Ramírez (@patri_psicóloga): psychologist, writer, speaker and creator with extensive experience in emotional wellbeing.
- Sofía Santos: psychologist specialising in emotional management and interpersonal relationships.
- Miriam Sanjuán: expert in therapeutic accompaniment and self-care tools.
Four authoritative voices, four ways of listening and accompanying. Because every traveller is unique, and every return home is too.
An initiative present in Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Malaga
We wanted to reach as many people as possible, so we activated Felices Vueltas on OUIGO’s main routes during the days leading up to Christmas:
✅ Madrid ↔ Barcelona
✅ Madrid ↔ Valencia
✅ Madrid ↔ Sevilla
✅ Madrid ↔ Málaga
Loads of sessions took place to make the journey home a little more bearable. Because travelling isn’t just about arriving: it is also about preparing yourself for what comes next.
Great participation and diverse travellers
The response was very good, and travellers welcomed the sessions with great enthusiasm, proving that talking about mental health is no longer taboo: it is a necessity.
The best part? The profile of the participants was super varied: men, women, adults, young people, people travelling alone or accompanied... Because emotions know no age or gender. We all, at some point, need a space to stop, breathe and sort out what we are feeling.
It was beautiful to see how a train, besides connecting cities, connected people with themselves.
High-speed answers:
Were the sessions free?
Yes, completely free. You just had to book a slot in advance or on the spot (and be over 18).
OUIGO’s commitment to your wellbeing
Felices Vueltas wasn’t just a one-off action: it was a statement of intent. At OUIGO we believe that travelling has to be a complete experience, where emotional wellbeing counts too. And if we can do our bit so that you arrive home with a better attitude, calmer or simply more prepared... then we will.
Because caring isn’t just ensuring you arrive on time (although that matters a lot to us too 😉). Caring is thinking of you as a person, not just as a passenger.
Will this initiative return?
We can’t confirm anything yet, but what we do know is that experiences like this remind us why we do what we do. So stay tuned to our social media: if we activate something like this again, you will be the first to know.
Going home for Christmas can be complicated, but with OUIGO, the journey isn’t. We look forward to seeing you on board. 💖
