Travelling as a family should never be a headache. To make your journey easier, children get mini prices (or even free travel for children under 4 when they sit on your lap). No nasty surprises: our children's fares stay fixed, whatever the booking date or the distance travelled.

Here's everything you need to know about fares, on-board rules and family benefits before you book.

Ages 0 to 3 inclusive: the Toupti offer

The Toupti offer is designed especially for babies and very young children (under 4). It's simple: your Toupti travels free of charge, comfortably settled on the lap of the adult accompanying them. And of course, this offer is available on OUIGO High Speed as well as OUIGO Train Classique.
If you'd like your Toupti to have their own seat, you can of course book one: €5 on OUIGO Train Classique in France, or €8 on OUIGO High Speed and on Train Classique routes to Belgium.

Ages 4 to 11 inclusive: the fixed child fare

From the age of 4, your child gets their own seat, just like the grown-ups. Their fare is locked in and capped to protect your budget, whatever the travel date or the distance travelled:

  • On OUIGO Train Classique (in France): a fixed fare of €5 per journey
  • On OUIGO High Speed & Train Classique to Belgium: a fixed fare of €8 per journey

In a nutshell, here's how child tickets work from 0 to 11:

  • Under 4: travel is free with the Toupti offer if your child sits on your lap, on both High Speed and Train Classique.
  • Ages 4 to 11: your child gets a reserved seat at the easy-on-the-wallet fare of €5 on Train Classique in France, and €8 to Belgium or on High Speed.
  • Reserved seat under 4: if you'd rather book an individual seat for your little one, the same reduced fares of €5 and €8 apply.

En pratique à bord

  • Free pushchair: if you're travelling with a child or a Toupti, you can bring 1 pushchair per child free of charge, up to 2 pushchairs per booking. Just remember to fold it before boarding, then store it in the luggage areas at the entrance of each carriage.
Travelling without a child? The pushchair is then treated as luggage and requires a baggage option.
Kid travelling in a OUIGO train
  • No food service on board: There is no buffet car on OUIGO trains. Pack water, snacks or a few treats for your child to stave off any little hunger pangs during the journey.
  • Nursery area: a nursery area is available in carriages 1, 7, 11 and 17 on OUIGO High Speed, so you can change your little one in comfort.
  • Proof of age and ID: proof of your child's age (family record book or ID) must be shown on board during checks. For journeys to Belgium, ID is compulsory for all passengers, including children under 4.
  • Accompaniment requirement: OUIGO does not offer an accompaniment service for minors travelling alone. Children must travel with an adult companion.

Family benefits

Travelling together is even easier with benefits designed for families:

  • Seat choice: if you'd like to pick your favourite seat, go for the seat choice option, which is free for under-12s when it's selected for the adult(s) on the booking.
  • OUIGO Plus and OUIGO Full packs: these packs are free for children under 12 when they're selected for the whole booking. Among other things, they give access to OUIFUN, the on-board entertainment portal, with films, cartoons, games, magazines and other kid-friendly content. Just remember to bring headphones or earphones to enjoy the audio content on board.
