Vélo : voyager avec son vélo ou sa trottinette à bord des trains OUIGO

Montauban

Travelling by train with your bike is possible with OUIGO! On the TGV or Train Classique, OUIGO has the option that suits you: from €5 for a dismantled bike in a cover, a folded bike or a folded scooter, and €10 for a bike that isn't dismantled on Train Classique. We'll explain the rules, the prices and the special cases so you can set off with your bike and a clear mind.

Conditions depending on the train

For a bike, it all depends on the type of train. On OUIGO High Speed, the bike only travels dismantled and in a cover, or folded for folding bikes, for €5 per traveller and per journey. Bikes that aren't dismantled are not accepted on OUIGO High Speed.

On OUIGO Train Classique, there are two possibilities: dismantled in a cover for €5 or not dismantled for €10 per traveller and per journey; the bike must be placed in the dedicated spaces.

For your dismantled bike to take its place on board our trains, it must meet a few conditions: the bike in its cover must not exceed 130 × 90 × 50 cm, must weigh less than 30 kg, and must have a wheel thickness of less than 5 cm. Bikes in cardboard boxes are not allowed.

If you're travelling with a bike that isn't dismantled, it must be under 172 cm for Train Classique services in France. Bikes that aren't dismantled are not accepted on OUIGO High Speed.

Nos cas particuliers

At OUIGO, we love the exceptions that prove the rule. When it comes to travelling with your bike, we've set up two exceptions:

  • On Paris–Brussels, a bike that isn't dismantled (under 185 cm) is only available from Tuesday to Thursday, to cope with the heavy weekend crowds. From Friday to Monday, only dismantled bikes in a cover can be taken on board.
  • On OUIGO Train Classique trains linking Paris and Bordeaux, bikes that aren't dismantled are unfortunately not accepted on board. But you can still take your dismantled bike in a cover for just €5!

Bike option prices and booking

You can travel on our OUIGO trains with one bike per traveller, up to two bikes per booking. To travel with your bike, the price depends on the option:

  • €5 for a dismantled bike in a cover
  • €10 for a bike that isn't dismantled
  • On a connecting journey, the option must be paid for each train booked. If you take two trains on your journey, you'll therefore need to pay for the option for each train and choose the same option for the whole journey (for example, you can't travel with a dismantled bike on one train and in a cover on the other).

Not sure yet whether you'll travel with your bike? Don't panic: the bike option can be added when you book, or via the “My trips” section post-booking, up to 30 minutes before the train departs. Bike spaces are limited, so book your bike's space as far in advance as possible so you don't leave your bike stuck in the garage.

Please note: when you travel with a bike, you can't take the seat choice option. Don't worry: our teams make sure you're seated near your bike or scooter, or at the very least in the same carriage.

And for the most indecisive among you, if you exchange your ticket, you keep your bike option without paying for it again, subject to space being available on the new train.

Cycling with OUIGO: our practical tips

A few habits make the journey easier. We'll tell you everything:

  • I label my bike like a piece of luggage, to reduce the risk of loss and let staff contact me if needed.
  • I load and unload my bike myself: OUIGO staff aren't authorised to help you. Flex those muscles, take the panniers off the bike, and plan your exit from the train well in advance.
  • I get a head start: getting around a station with a bike isn't always easy. Plan to arrive earlier to make settling in easier
  • I take care to stow my bike properly, so that it doesn't get in other travellers' way and doesn't slide or fall.

Finally, some categories of bike are not accepted on board: recumbent bikes, tricycles, tandems and trailers. Our trains are unfortunately not big enough for these bikes. Bike panniers must also be removed before boarding. If their dimensions exceed those allowed for a cabin bag, they must be covered by an extra baggage option.

Please note: it is forbidden to charge the battery of your bike, scooter or any other electric vehicle on board.

Your questions about OUIGO bikes

How much does the OUIGO bike option cost?
€5 per traveller and per journey for a dismantled bike in a cover (High Speed and Train Classique), or €10 for a bike that isn't dismantled.

And what about scooters?
A scooter (30 kg max) must be folded (maximum dimensions: 130 x 90 x 50 cm) and is accepted via the “folded bike in a cover or scooter” option. Charging electric batteries is strictly forbidden on board.

Is my bike option kept if I exchange my ticket?
Yes, options you've already bought, including the bike, remain valid on the new train, subject to availability.
