The new high-speed train operator OUIGO is launching ticket sales today, with prices starting at €9 for journeys from 10 May until 11 December 2021 on the first of its lines in Spain: the Madrid-Barcelona route, with stops in Zaragoza and Tarragona. The company has launched sales for the above period following the end of the current State of Alarm. OUIGO is still committed to starting its operations in early spring as previously announced, depending on the evolution of the mobility restrictions. The company will continue to adapt to the decisions of the Spanish authorities to ensure all its passengers have a safe, comfortable and hassle-free trip.
According to Hélène Valenzuela, CEO of OUIGO Spain: “Spaniards are looking forward to travelling again, and what better way than with OUIGO’s incredible prices? As from now, travellers can buy low-cost rail tickets at www.ouigo.com/es and using the OUIGO App in less than three minutes. Whether for a weekend getaway with family or a trip with friends...OUIGO promised to bring high-speed travel to everyone and now it’s here!”
Alain Krakovitch, CEO of Voyages SNCF in France added: “We’re proud to be launching sales for OUIGO trains in Spain today, after two years of hard work by more than 300 people. Today we achieved two objectives: offering high-speed travel to the greatest possible number of travellers and developing a means of transport with the lowest carbon footprint in Europe, as we have already done in other countries with our emblematic trains: TGV Inoui, Eurostar, Thalys, TGV Lyria and OUIGO, of course.”
OUIGO’s trains offer exciting new features never seen before in Spain, including two levels with capacity for up to 509 passengers, the OUIbar and the relaxing cafe.
All tickets can be fully personalised, with a base rate of €9 that includes hand and cabin luggage and the option of changing the ticket beneficiary up until the day before travelling. You can also add other services from among the range of options, meaning you only pay for what you really need.
For an extra €9 per passenger the company offers travellers OUIGO PLUS, a pack that includes numerous extra services: choose your seat for maximum comfort, reserve an XL seat, take an extra piece of luggage and access OUIFUN, the on-board entertainment service for all ages with a wide selection of films, series, cartoons, podcasts, magazine programmes and games.
OUIGO also offers the possibility of adding other ‘a la carte’ services:
- Extra luggage for only €5
- Flexible tickets for €7 (unlimited changes until 30 minutes before the train departs)
- Travel with your pet in a carrier for €10
We also love family trips, that’s why tickets for children aged under 3 years are free and children aged 4-13 years (both inclusive) can travel for a flat rate of €5, including their own hand luggage. OUIGO has arrived for you to discover high-speed travel!
OUIGO will begin its operations after implementing an exhaustive safety plan to ensure it fully complies with all COVID-19 health measures. Face masks will be compulsory for both passengers and crew, hand sanitiser will be available for all travellers and strict cleaning and disinfection protocols will be applied in all trains.
The time is drawing near for you to discover the OUIGO experience, a trusted brand that allows you to travel in style in its double-decker high-speed trains, with attentive staff and everything you need for a fun and entertaining journey.
The company has a strong long-term commitment to Spain, with the aim of playing an active role in the economic recovery through the creation of quality jobs and boosting the economy by facilitating mobility between cities.
The new high-speed operator will have a total of 10 daily departures linking Madrid and Barcelona in only 2 hours and 30 minutes. The line will include stops in Zaragoza and Tarragona. Soon it will also be arriving in cities such as Valencia, Alicante, Cordoba, Seville and Malaga
