You've booked your OUIGO ticket: well done, the hard part is done! All that's left is to prepare your trip. To travel with peace of mind, avoid last-minute stress and leave nothing to chance, follow our complete guide.

Before you leave: luggage and ticket

A successful trip starts with a well-prepared departure. By planning your luggage and your arrival at the station, you avoid last-minute stress and board feeling relaxed. Here are the steps, from the moment you close your suitcase to when you settle into your seat on the train.

A few reminders before you leave

  1. Before you leave: Check your luggage (dimensions and options) and your ticket in the mobile app. Bring a valid ID document.
  2. At the station: Arrive early: access to the train closes 5 minutes before departure. Find your hall and platform on the blue screens or in the app.
  3. On the platform: Let passengers get off before you board, and give priority to passengers heading to the upper deck.
  4. On board: Settle in and store your cabin bags under or above your seat, and your large luggage in the dedicated areas.

Boarding starts around 30 minutes before departure, and access to the train closes 5 minutes before it.

Skis and musical instruments are accepted, subject to conditions, via the extra or oversized baggage option.

Pushchairs and baby equipment travel free if you're travelling with your child.

Chaque voyageur (adulte ou enfant) bénéficie gratuitement de deux bagages à bord :

Every traveller (adult or child) gets two bags on board free of charge:

  • Hand luggage: it must not exceed 40 × 30 × 15 cm (for example, a backpack, a handbag or a laptop bag)
  • Cabin bag: its maximum dimensions are 55 × 35 × 25 cm (small wheeled suitcase size)

special areas to put your luggage while traveling

If your suitcase exceeds the dimensions of a cabin bag, or if you're travelling with an extra bag in addition to your cabin suitcase, you need to add the Extra or oversized baggage option (up to 130 × 90 × 50 cm and 30 kg max). This option costs €5 online with the OUIGO Essentiel offer, and it's included directly if you choose the OUIGO PLUS or OUIGO FULL offer.

If an extra or oversized bag hasn't been booked, you'll have to pay a €20 per bag on-the-spot fee instead of €5 online. So it's best to plan ahead and avoid any surprises!

Storing your luggage properly on board

For cabin bags, it's under the seats on OUIGO High Speed and above the seats on OUIGO Train Classique. Large luggage goes in the dedicated areas at the start and end of each carriage.

One last tip: label all your bags with your name and phone number. It's compulsory and makes things easier if you leave something behind.
