Voyager en train avec son animal

At OUIGO, the rules on board depend on how your domestic pet travels (in a carrier or on a lead), not on its species. As the comfort and safety of all passengers remain a priority, here is how your companion needs to travel :

Depending on your trip : 

• Return trip: If your outward and return journeys are on the same booking, the option applies automatically to both.
• Trip with connections: Does your trip include several OUIGO journeys? No need to add the option each time: the pet option applies automatically to every leg of your trip.
• Is your pet not travelling on every leg of the journey? Contact our customer service via Messenger or Instagram so we can adjust your booking.

• Prohibited breeds: In accordance with the law, dogs classed as category 1 under French law (such as Staffordshire terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, mastiffs, tosas, etc.) are not allowed on board our trains.
• Guide dogs and assistance dogs: Guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs travel free of charge on all our routes.
• Exotic pets: Reptiles, ferrets, birds and rodents may be refused boarding at the discretion of the train manager and/or SNCF Voyageurs SA staff, particularly if the animal is not properly enclosed in a carrier no larger than a cabin bag (55 x 35 x 25 cm), or if it could be considered dangerous.

• In the station and on the platforms, keep your pets secured – dogs on a lead and muzzled*, or other pets in a closed carrier – as crowds and train noises can frighten them and make them bolt or bite.
• Pack a bottle of water and a bowl to keep your pet hydrated throughout the journey.
